Olympians In Training

Today was a great day! Miss Brittany, Kiss, Cookie, & I went to gymnastics class this morning and had a blast! We were a little nervous about how two 22 month olds would be in a huge gym but they completley surprised me & made me very proud.
We started out in a circle with the class on our carpet squares. We sang the Hokey Pokey and watched some of the daring kids do their straddle jump in the middle. Kiss & Cookie looked a little shy and unsure (as did Miss B & I).
Next, our half of the class went with Miss Summer to the trampoline and learned some "seat jumps." Kiss & Cookie wanted nothing to do with the trampoline...until--Kiss spotted the star on the trampoline. I went out there with her at first to see if she wanted to jump, and soon enough, Kiss was jumping, falling, laughing, and just having the time of her life! I was so excited to see her get out there and try it! Cookie followed soon behind after seeing how much fun his sister was having. He went all over the trampoline with the biggest smile on his face.
After some jumping and much resistance to get off of the trampoline, the class moved to the mats where we would jump on the beam, stand on a tall mat, jump down, and hop over the carpet sqares. Cookie was SO anxious to have his turn that I had to keep reminding him, "Almost your turn!" Kiss even clapped and said "yaaay!" for the other kids. It was probably the cutest thing I have ever seen.
The last gym activity took lots of courage. The kids had to walk across the balance beam, then scoot down the little beam to the end. Kiss had absoluetley no fear! She went all the way across the beam with a huge smile on her face. Cookie was a little more unsure about being that high up, but they both loved scooting across the little beam together.
Of course, the morning would not be complete without some ladybug stamps and a high five. I can't believe how much Kiss & Cookie have grown in just a matter of months. I was so glad I got to experience gymnastics today with them.
